Vertical Van Storage! Bed to Rear Door Campervan Storage

When planning your DIY campervan build, it's easy to obsess over maximizing sleeping space—many folks think the bed should sit flush against the rear doors. This sounds like a great idea but I have found that space to be vital and unique vertical storage in my Mercedes Sprinter Van. That area can store tall items better than any other place in the van.

Those few inches behind the bed between the rear doors? It’s gold.

Vertical storage in a campervan is already limited once you factor in upper cabinets, a kitchen setup, and the bed platform, especially in the shorter wheel base vans of the Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster. So where do you put long or awkwardly shaped items like fishing poles, brooms, shovels, axes, folding chairs, golf clubs, trash can, and rifles. All you need is just a few inches, and that space between the bed and rear doors becomes the perfect vertical van storage zone.

Even better, having that gap means you can access the rear door handle from the bed. If you ever need to make a quick exit, that simple detail could really matter.

At TNTvans, we design from our own real world experience. Our conversion kits ship in compact boxes via UPS and are made to be installed by you—easily and intelligently. And sometimes, a little space can go a long way.
